About

Patron Alain Roux created Roux at Skindles on the banks of the River Thames in partnership with his late father, Michel Roux OBE, as the type of place they would choose to spend time off with family and friends – a relaxed atmosphere, with tasty, homecooked dishes created in an open kitchen, offering great value and quality.

Skindles has a long history, from its construction in 1743 through to becoming a fashionable hotel in 1833, to an iconic hotel and nightclub in the 1970s and 1980s when it was graced by guests and performers that included The Rolling Stones, Sean Connery, John Lennon, Yoko Ono and Richard Nixon.

Launching Roux at Skindles was a chance to rekindle the sparkle of the old Skindles story for a new generation of guests. But more than this, it was a dream come true for Alain and Michel, their first restaurant opening together and a home from home. Their aim was to create the kind of round-the-corner Brasserie they grew up with in France, hanging out with family and neighbours.
