Head Chef

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef looking for their first Head Chefs position, to lead the kitchen brigade at Roux at Skindles, our busy Michelin listed Brasserie situated on the River Thames at Taplow/Maidenhead. https://rouxatskindles.co.uk/

We are looking for a passionate and talented chef with a strong background in classic French & British cuisine. You will lead from the front with the ability to constantly perform well in a high-pressured environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading from the front to inspire a dedicated kitchen brigade – continuing a culture of excellence, professionalism, and creativity.
  • Working with our Patron, Chef Alain Roux, and his senior chefs to develop and execute seasonal and themed event menus, as well as a smaller, keenly priced monthly table d’hôte menu.
  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including stock management, procurement, food safety, hygiene, and compliance with health regulations.
  • Work with the Management team continuously striving to enhance the dining experience at Roux at Skindles, by maintaining exceptional standards of cuisine, presentation, and service.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a busy, high-end restaurant/brasserie/hotel environment.
  • A deep knowledge and expertise in classic French and British cuisine as well as a passion for other culinary delights from around the world. Knowledge of all sections of the kitchen.
  • Experience of working with fresh ingredients.
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and develop a talented team from the Sous Chefs to the Kitchen Porters.
  • Strong organisational and management abilities, with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Be able to manage a budget and have a good sense of cost and quality control.
  • Excellent communication skills.
